Escalante Ruiz reported that Profeco is instructed to monitor the prices of regular gasoline and diesel daily. The goal is to ensure that consumer costs remain within the established range. Service stations continue to purchase fuel at the same price, but adjust their profit indicator, which can generate unjustified increases.
The agency visited a Mobil gas station in Monterrey, where it placed a banner with the legend: “Do not charge here, they are blowing up the fence with the prices.” This marked the beginning of visible measures against stations that exceed profit indicators.
Procedure for irregularities
During the inspection visits, the staff drew up minutes in compliance with article 13 of the Federal Consumer Protection Law. Gas stations were requested to provide documentation to justify the price increases, giving them a period of 24 hours to deliver the required reports.
If the justifications are not valid, Profeco will maintain the warning measures at these stations. However, if the increases are justified, the seals and tarps placed will be removed.
Actions in different locations
The warning actions also extended to service stations in Durango and San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato, of the Mi Gasolina and Chevron brands, respectively. These banners and seals do not interrupt the commercial activity of gas stations.
Iván Escalante Ruiz highlighted that several service stations from different franchises have already adjusted their prices, keeping them below 24 pesos, in compliance with the range established by the presidency.
Continuous monitoring
In the coming days, visits to other gas stations in different regions of the country will continue. These actions seek to ensure that the price of fuel remains stable and accessible to consumers, respecting profit indicators and official provisions.
