Several institutions carried out an operation in which they found products that are no longer suitable for human consumption.
Thus, members of the Fiscal Police Area in coordination with the Provincial Criminal Prosecutor’s Office, the Health Network and a specialist in Marketing from the Provincial Municipality, the last trs of Angaraes, participated in the multisectoral operation in prevention of public health in Lircay.
As a result of the intervention in different commercial stores, they found, and seized, confectionery products prohibited for sale, as confirmed by the alert from the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI).
As is known, the aforementioned alert details that products containing dangerous “trans fats” are not suitable for human consumption and must be withdrawn from their commercialization.

Among the products seized were butter cheese flavored corn extrudates, known as Cheese Tris.
They also seized other confectionery products with expired expiration dates such as yogurts, marshmallows, chocolates, biscuits, among others.
They calculate that everything seized has an approximate value of 2,500 soles.
Everything seized was transferred to the specialized police unit for its respective denaturing (destruction).
In the same way, the merchants from whom these products were seized were recommended to comply with the minimum and necessary hygiene and health conditions in their establishments in order to safeguard the health of consumers.

Finally, the National Police of Peru urge the population to review the labeling of the products that they are going to purchase in order to avoid consuming foods with expired or eradicated expiration dates that could harm their health.
