The President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez, participated this Monday in the official opening of the 25th Edition of the Expo Amambay in the city of Pedro Juan Caballero. On the occasion, he highlighted that these types of events constitute a clear example of post-pandemic recovery. In this context, the Rural Association of Paraguay (ARP) highlighted the permanent support of the Government that has made it possible to achieve important achievements in favor of the Paraguayan productive sector.
“My presence is due to a recognition of all the people of the Amambay department, for two years we could not hold this event as a result of the pandemic and today we are restarting the activities of the productive sector,” said Abdo Benítez during the opening ceremony.
He stressed that this type of activity constitutes an important showcase for local economies to show all their productive force and work capacity. He also maintained that it is a synonym of hope not only for the capital of the Amambay department, but for the entire Republic.
On the occasion, the president recalled the complicated moments that the country had to go through due to the pandemic, mainly border workers who were the hardest hit during the critical moments of covid-19. “All the decisions they made were thinking about the people,” he assured.
In that order, he mentioned that Paraguay is currently showing key signs of recovery and expressed confidence in moving towards that path. He also referred again to the need to continue betting on investment in public works and infrastructure.
During his speech, the head of state reiterated that his government will continue to fight with more force against criminal groups, and that his goal is to leave a healthy society for new generations.
He mentioned that regardless of the numbers specified in his management, the most important thing is to deepen the strengthening of the public forces, which, he alleged, must be accompanied in the reunion and reconciliation among all Paraguayans.
“Today I wanted to be present because of the symbolism of what the recovery and recognition of hard-working people implies, of a department where there are good, hard-working and decent people,” he stressed.
On the other hand, the president announced that as soon as possible he will be submitting to Congress for its treatment and approval, the construction project of the almost 200 km paved road, between Pedro Juan Caballero – Capitan Bado, Itanará – Ypejhú.
The aforementioned road infrastructure will connect more than 15,000 in the departments of Amambay and Canindeyú. “Surely I am going to start the work and it will be inaugurated by the next president, but these are steps that we are going to take to pay tribute with works to all those who work in this area of the country,” he stated.
ARP highlights government support
For his part, the president of the Rural Association of Paraguay (ARP) Pedro Galli, said that everything indicates that the requests that have been made in recent years are being exceeded.
“We must recognize that as an agricultural sector we were permanently accompanied by the Government. The presence of the head of state is a clear message of the support that he is giving to the productive sector, we know that it is the sector that has given stability to the country in such a difficult time, such as the pandemic”, he added.
Along the same lines, he spoke of the exponential growth experienced by the sector in the last 20 years. From exporting about 50 million dollars a month in 2003, today it reaches more than 2,000 million dollars, he specified while pointing out that the cattle herd also grew.
Galli explained that the combined work between the public and private sectors has been decisive for a small Mediterranean country like Paraguay to become one of the most prosperous in the region.
“Carrying out projects in the short, medium and long term has been very important,” he stressed and in this context, he encouraged to continue on that path so that the country continues to stand out more and more.
