With precise answers and proposals from teachers, a meeting of the highest authorities of the Ministry of Education (Meduca) and representatives of 29 teaching unions was held on the morning of January 22, at the ministerial headquarters of Cárdenas.
One of the leaders requested a payment report for these first months of management of the new administration, since the director in charge of Human Resources, Celia Rodríguez, presented a detailed report on the cancellation of these benefits to 36,761 teachers for more than 28.5 million of balboas.
The Academic Vice Minister, Agnes de Cotes, pointed out that “we deal with issues such as expired terms, travel expenses for areas that are difficult to access, bonuses, among others, which they need to explain to their members. The meeting was positive and we agreed to other meetings to discuss important issues for education.”
After discussing these issues, the leader of the Association of Authentic Independent Teachers (AMIA), Armando Espinosa, said that “it was a productive meeting, to get closer to the Meduca authorities and, tentatively, meet in the future to discuss other issues.”
