Aspiration minute with measures related to border competitiveness proposed Mayor Gonzalo Rivero
In written form and through the Matters Entered, the Departmental Legislator of the National Party proposed a Minute of Aspiration related to border competitiveness, border fuel and fiscal adequacy for productive development.
The recipients of the proposal are the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the ANCAP Board of Directors, the URSEA, the Cerro Largo Commercial and Industrial Center, the National Representatives for the Department and Senator Sergio Botana.
“There are two key points: one is to be able to have a fuel that is directly competitive with that of Brazil. The proposal, which is directed directly to ANCAP, would be to go from 95 octane to a 92 fuel, something more economical so that the people of Cerro Largo have access to a cheaper fuel. The other measure is that when this lowering the IMESI is carried out, add an extra bonus so that the entire department has access because there is a certain asymmetry, a difference between the border itself – Río Branco and Noblía, which is where there are service stations – with respect to Melo” commented Gonzalo Rivero.
“The idea is that this discount can be extended in the IMESI so that Melo and other points in the department of Cerro Largo, such as Fraile Muerto, can be considered, for example” The Mayor of the National Party said at a press conference.
“Of that money that is used in gasoline, today almost $50 per liter is lost and that money is fleeing to Brazil. Why does the Ministry of Economy and Finance not aim to collect a little less from both IMESI and VAT, but that the money stays in the country, here in Cerro Largo” Rivero asked later. “That is very important” he added.
BENEFITS FOR THE PRODUCTIVE SECTOR
“The other proposal would be fuel as a productive engine” he synthesized. “The discount that has been announced would be 15%. In that case we propose that a plus be given to the producer, the logistics carrier, the rice, meat, dairy and farmers. In my case I am a horticultural producer and my most important fixed expense is fuel” he assured.
“If we manage to lower fuel prices, we will lower production costs and lower the cost of living because the prices of products will be lower.” said Gonzalo Rivero.
“The main thing about our proposal is that: that producers have a bonus through RUT. It would be something that would be extended to the companies of Cerro Largo” said the nationalist mayor and farmer of the department.
