Production of heavy vehicles in Mexico hits a record level during August

The production of heavy vehicles in Mexico reached the maximum level of the last years during August of this yearby assembling 20,197 units, this is 9.2% more than what was reported in the same month of 2019, after having achieved synchronization of the production chain, reported Miguel Elizalde, executive president of the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor Producers (ANPACT).

“We are already at the levels we had before the pandemic,” the manager boasted, considering “very positive” the growth trend in truck manufacturing of 59.3% in August compared to the same month in 2021, when it produced 12,676 units .

The production of heavy vehicles during the first eight months of the year totaled 127,858 units, which translates into a growth of 18% compared to the same period of the previous year, in which 108,364 units were manufactured.

At a press conference, Elizalde reported that truck exports during the eighth month of 2022 increased 69.8%, to stand at 17,811 vehicles, and an increase of 8.2% compared to August 2019.

During the first eight months of the year, the heavy industry exported 106,824 units, a figure that represents accumulated growth of 15.7% compared to those exported during the same period of 2021.

“The figures in the unit export market make evident the importance of maintaining and continuing to promote the T-MEC as a commercial framework that provides legal certainty and confidence, as well as the conditions to continue with a vigorous production that generates growth, employment and prosperity for the country”, said the president of ANPACT.

According to Inegi data, the wholesale sale of heavy vehicles reported a total of 3,738 units, which compared to the 2,554 units sold in the same month of 2021 represents growth of 46.4 percent. This places it as the highest sale in the last 4 years.

While the accumulated wholesale sales of 25,633 units in the period from January to August of this year, a figure that represents a growth of 28.8%, it is compared to the 19,899 sold during the same period of 2021.
