Celso Fantinel, president of the Confederation of Associations of Agricultural Producers of Venezuela (Fedeagro), said in an interview with Fedecámaras radio that the planting goal set by fedeagro of 60,000 hectares for export Chinese beans was not achieved, and that only 60% was reached. He asserted that the government’s disrespect for production costs complicates the outlook for the sector
The president of the Confederation of Associations of Agricultural Producers of Venezuela (Fedeagro), Celso Fantinel, estimated that different production markets in 2022 obtained between 20% and 30% less income compared to 2021.
For the union representative, inflation, low purchasing power and difficulties in marketing are some of the factors mentioned by the agricultural union that affect the sector. In an interview for the Informe Fedecámaras program, the president of Fedeagro reported that there was an improvement in the production of different items, however, he stated that failures in marketing impede the sustainable growth of the sector.

He added that the planting goal set by fedeagro of 60,000 hectares for export Chinese beans was not achieved, and that only 60% was reached. He said that they do not believe they will reach 45,000 hectares of rice sowing in the north-summer 2022, so at this moment they are approximately 20,000.
Fantinel stressed that there is “a very poor marketing” of the items and a low purchasing power in the population. In his opinion, “the National Executive does not even respect production costs,” and this affects the income of producers and the industry in general.
Regarding the wages and salaries of agricultural and livestock workers, he added that, according to surveys, they are above $120, in addition to receiving food services.
