For the CEO of FNC, Benjamín Mountford, the main challenge facing his industry is the lack of competitiveness that led to the fall in national production

Fábricas Nacionales de Cerveza (FNC) is a Uruguayan company with 155 years of history and more than 700 employees. Beer production is the core of its business, which today is threatened by the country’s lack of competitiveness. In this framework, the company assured that local production lost space in the refrigerators at the hands of its foreign competitors. “In the last five years, national production fell 8% compared to imported ones,” said the CEO of the firm, Benjamin Mountford, adding that the heavy cost structure at the local level also prevents them from projecting abroad.
