Produce launches credit program for artisanal fishermen in Piura

To promote the economic reactivation of fishermen and artisanal fishing agents dedicated to the extraction of squid or giant squid and parakeet in the Piura region, the Ministry of Production (Produce), through the National Fisheries Development Fund (Fondepes), launched an extraordinary credit program with annual interest rates of 1%.

The head of the sector, Sergio González Guerrero, explained that the initiative will be aimed at fishermen and artisanal fishing agents in the provinces of Paita and Sechura, who have been affected by the shortage of squid due to unfavorable weather conditions for this resource.

“Among the towns included are: La Tortuga, La Islilla, Yacila, Parachique, La Bocana and Bayóvar, among others, who will be able to access this benefit to boost their activities and reactivate their economies,” he added.

In this sense, González Guerrero explained that the extraordinary credits will have a payment period of up to 36 months, including a grace period of up to six months and without the need for initial amortization.

“For loans of up to S/51,000, only a personal guarantee (promissory note) will be required, while higher loans, up to S/113,000, will require a real guarantee,” he assured.

Likewise, for the evaluation of the credit rating, the report from the risk centers and the credits in Fondepes will be taken into account until December 31, 2023.

It should be noted that the credits granted by Fondepes are not delivered in cash, but rather finance the purchase of goods and services such as engines, communication equipment, fishing gear, thermal insulation of warehouses, engine and fishing hull repairs, as well as fuel. , ice and food, among others.

Requirements

To access extraordinary credits, interested parties must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be over 18 years old and under 67 years old.
  2. Have a National Identity Document (DNI).
  3. Receipt of public services or household certificate issued by a justice of the peace or municipality.
  4. Quote of goods and/or services (proforma).
  5. Affidavit certifying that they are dedicated to the extraction of the giant squid and mahi mahi resource in La Tortuga, La Islilla, Yacila, Parachique, La Bocana and Bayóvar, among other locations in the province of Paita and Sechura.
  6. Fishing Vessel Registration Certificate.
  7. In the case of legal entities, it is necessary to have an active and existing RUC, with an economic activity linked to artisanal fishing, as well as a corporate purpose related to this activity in its statute.
