The Ministry of Production (Produce) reported that in the month of June the extractive activity of the fishing sector experienced an increase of 22%, in terms of volume, compared to June 2021.
The head of Produce, Jorge Prado Palomino, explained that the total landing of hydrobiological resources amounted to 1 million 31 thousand 300 MT, being 186,200 MT higher than what was registered in June 2021, due to the increase in anchovy landings. destined for Indirect Human Consumption (CHI).
“The landing of anchoveta destined for the CHI was quite positive in June due to the favorable oceanographic conditions (cold waters) for this species.”, he assured.

CHI Landing
According to data from the General Office for Impact Assessment and Economic Studies of Produce, in June 2022, anchovy landings for CHI amounted to 929,300 MT, meaning an increase of 29.2% compared to the same month of the previous year.
This result responds to the increase in anchoveta landings registered in the north-central zone (+30.3%) corresponding to the first fishing season 2022; highlighting the increase in discharges at the ports of Chimbote (+117.3%), Coishco (+117.1%), Supe Puerto (+527.4%), Chancay (+286.2%), among others, in relation to June of the previous year.
production value
Likewise, last June the Gross Production Value of the fishing sector experienced a growth of 15.1%, mainly due to the increase in the production value of the resources destined for the CHI (+29.2%).
Meanwhile, in the areas of Direct Human Consumption (CHD), the decrease can be seen mainly in the value of landed resources destined for the frozen industry (-2.5%), cured (-31.2%) and in the fresh state ( -16.6%). In contrast, this drop was partially attenuated by an increase in the value of landed resources destined for the canning industry (+101.1%).
