Procon de São Paulo reported this Friday (11) that it will notify all betting houses, also known as bets, that they have not reimbursed consumers who have money on credit in the companies’ systems. The deadline for bettors to withdraw money from bets not authorized to operate in the country ended this Thursday (10).
According to Procon-SP, harmed consumers must register complaints with consumer protection agencies for guidance, both in individual cases and for possible collective actions.
“The São Paulo consumer protection agency is already receiving complaints from consumers reporting problems such as the non-return of money given to use the platforms and advises everyone who finds themselves in the same situation to also formalize a registration with Procon in their city or state ”, says Procon-SP, in a note.
According to the entity, it is the obligation of bookmakers to return the amounts that each consumer has in credit until the bet system is interrupted. Procon-SP emphasizes that all other members of the commercial chain, such as payment method companies, may also be responsible for complying with the return of money.
Procon-SP also informed that it will send a letter to the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) and the Ministry of Finance expressing its concern about the possibility of platforms creating new domains to continue exploring gaming and betting activities clandestinely. .
The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) today released the list with 2,027 pages of bets (electronic betting companies) that will go offline in the next few days. The agency is notifying service providers to remove access to the pages. The list is available at official page of the regulatory agency.
