Security Tips
The Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) prepared ten recommendations for consumers to increase security when shopping on Black Friday. The entity advises that buyers give preference to known stores and check the reputation of unknown pages on complaint websites.
Febraban also advises accessing shopping sites by typing the address into the browser, and being wary of promotions whose prices are much lower than the actual value of the product.
“Be very careful with emails of promotions that have links. Upon receiving a e-mail unsolicited or from a website on which you are not registered to receive promotions, it is important to check whether it really is a reputable company”, recommends the entity.
Another guideline is to give preference to the guaranteed purchase model, in which the platform retains the purchase value until positive feedback from the buyer.
“In social media stores, check whether the page has an authentication seal, a compatible number of followers and also comments from other buyers. Be wary of newly created pages.”
The entity emphasizes that consumers choose to pay for online purchases with a virtual card, and use the SMS notification service of transactions made or other means provided by banks, which inform the amount made for each transaction, instantly.
