UTU bets on regional integration with Brazil and Argentina to solve social and productive problems

The UTU signed new agreements with universities from Brazil and Argentina to strengthen binational careers and plans to create a trinational career in Bella Union next year. According to the deputy director of the institution, Wilson Netto, the objective is to address social and productive problems that the three countries share through a “Bank of Problem” which will work in 22 Uruguay centers. “We are going to look for solutions to difficulties we share at the border level,” he said in an interview with the morning.

To put in context, in 2006 we made the first binational racing agreement with Brazil. That year the possibility of developing binational centers and binational careers in technical education was approved. Then we signed a slightly more powerful agreement in 2011. Today we have a thousand binational students in different border careers with Rivera, with Yaguarón, with the Chuy. Over time, we built 16 technological poles of which we made them on the border with Argentina and Brazil. Now what we are doing is to resume an agreement with Brazilian universities, in this case, we sign with the Federal University of Balls and the Federal University of Rio Grande del Sur. And on the other hand with the National Technological University (UTN) of Argentina. We sign a framework agreement and we are already working on specific agreements in binational careers and in a trinational career to be developed in Bella Unión.

The intention we have is to build a proposal for next year of a computer technologist that allows the people of Bella Unión, Monte Caseros and Bar de Quaraí. On the other hand, we will be working in this second semester in the different border points with the UTN to visualize possible proposals to develop next year at the binational level. UTN are 30 Argentine public universities. This is growing importantly and allows us two things: one is to increase the number of teachers in areas of national interest and the second is to work in regional integration with careers and problems that we share at the border level. It would be very good to develop a bank of problems to be able, at the binational level, respond to social and productive problems to improve the conditions of development of society and the productive sector.

Precisely, the day of the firm you referred to the need for “Turn the page to inequality situations that still subsist in our countries.”

The technological education of the region has generally been very dump – and has to continue to be – to approach the professional profiles required by the productive sector. There are soft skills, specific skills or specializations according to the guidance that students and the particular demands of each productive sector have. But we must also try to generate in this bank of problems new situations to solve to promote entrepreneurship and thus solve problems that our society has in the social sphere, but also visualize opportunities from the productive point of view. UTU will have a huge challenge in this five -year period that is to contribute to generating this problem bank and looking for answers to improve people’s living conditions and on the other hand create new work spaces.

We have strengths and we also have weaknesses in border areas, and Argentina particularly has a greater trajectory, has another scale and has achieved very important advances, for example, in everything linked to electronics and control systems related to agricultural devices there is a huge accumulated experience that links us to the environment that are really important. We at border have proposals for environmental control. And it is a way of generating a dialogue in society of these tensions that occur between the need to advance in the generation of jobs and the rational care that we have to have with respect to the environment. Then we have other areas linked to information and communication systems, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, logistics. There is a huge set of areas in which these 30 Argentine universities can establish, in semi -creenial modalities, contact with our teachers and our young people, which requires an important logistics, but also allows us to strengthen the schools. Beyond the specific training that develops in any of these areas, opening this problem bank will allow us to see what areas of knowledge we should integrate to address the difficulties
