At a press conference, the start of the Professional Baseball League of Panama was announced today, for next December 9, in what will be its 11th season.
For this campaign, the novelty will be the Los Atlánticos franchise, which arrives to join the Astronautas de Los Santos, Federales de Chiriquí and Águilas Metropolitanas, in search of the crown.
The competition will have four stages: the Roberto ‘Flaco Bala’ Hernández stadium in Las Tablas, the Kenny Serracín stadium in David, the Calvin Byron stadium in Changuinola and the Rod Carew national stadium.
Héctor Brands, General Director of Pandeportes, stated that this competition puts our baseball on the international map, the team that wins Probeis will have the responsibility of leaving the country high in Caracas 2023.
The inauguration will be in charge of Los Atlánticos visiting the Federales de Chiriquí at the Kenny Serracín stadium and at the Rod Carew stadium the Los Santos Astronauts will clash against the Metropolitan Eagles.
“We are very happy, for a new season of tryouts, and as always, trying to get the best team to represent Panama in the 2023 Caribbean Series, which will be in Caracas, Venezuela. I know it will be a very competitive tournament, especially due to the incorporation of Los Atlánticos, who I am sure will have a good team. The competition will be very even and we hope that the best will win”, commented the president of Probeis, David Salayandía.
“Of course, many thanks to all the sponsors who have always put their trust in the league, such as Copa Airlines, Pandeportes, Banco Nacional de Panamá and Minera Panamá. Also, to the new ones who believe in this project”, he added. The winner will represent Panama in the Caribbean Series, which will be in Caracas, Venezuela, from February 2 to 10. Last year the Los Santos Astronauts were present at the regional event held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
