With its traditional march, the ruling party commemorated this Thursday, April 13, the Day of the Rescue of National Dignity, when former President Hugo Chávez returned to power in 2002, and the Day of the Militia.

«Today together with our people and the FAN we remember that April 13, 2002, the day when thousands of Venezuelans decided to take to the streets to shout: We want Chávez! and demand his release,” said the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

The rallying points for the march were Plaza Sucre in Catia and the Cantv headquarters on Avenida Libertador.

Francisco Torrealba, Minister of Labor, pointed out that “the people together with the FAN march in commemoration of that April 13, 2002. We remember the brave men and women who took to the streets to defend their sovereignty, today we continue to reaffirm our anti-imperialist character.”

For his part, Nahum Fernández, head of government of Caracas, affirmed that the people “commemorate the historic and deeply revolutionary feat with a sense of patriotism and accompanies President Nicolás Maduro to celebrate the great popular victory in the civic-military union 21 years ago.”

The march on April 13, which this year is preceded by the corruption plot revealed within the government since March 17, took the fight against illegal acts as part of the theme of the slogans, among which were heard : «The honest ones are more and with Nicolás Maduro we subtracted ».
