Pro-government deputies call to accelerate social aid to face the debate on the sixth retirement

The Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel, announced that before the end of this year, the President will present a new package of economic measures, while in the Constitution Commission of the Chamber of Deputies the processing of a sixth withdrawal of the Pension funds.

The deputy for Social Convergence, Gael Yoemans, expressed in The Mercury that he does not agree that while a pension reform is being discussed in one committee, the other is discussing pension withdrawals.

“Regarding the retirement discussion, it clashes with the pension law. It cannot be that the Constitution Commission parallels a retirement discussion with a possible self-loan that is in the pension project […] Being able to have economic measures will give families peace of mind and in that sense I think it has a positive impact regardless of what happens with retirement,” said the deputy.

On the other hand, the Communist Party deputy, Boris Barrera, mentioned in the same medium that the idea of social aid was raised in the official conclave that took place at the beginning of November.

“We gave examples of cards, but beyond that, we wanted to relieve the pockets of people who are having a hard time. We want this to arrive on time because we have the example of the previous government when people were confined to their homes,” declared the communist deputy.

In addition, he added that “transportation is a point that we have made to the Government because we hope that prices could be maintained for as long as possible.”

Deputy Jaime Naranjo (PS) said “I understand the aid that the political sectors have requested, it seems legitimate to me and the important thing is that the Government is open to implementing it.”

Regarding the withdrawal of pension funds, Naranjo said that “the correlation of forces does not make a new withdrawal viable.”

“One part of the basis that the government is going to help in a timely manner and is not going to let a new withdrawal gain strength in Parliament,” added the socialist.

Finally, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Vlado Mirosevic, maintained that today in Chile “it is increasingly expensive to live” and called on the President to “react” with a willingness to find a formula that will help families.

In relation to whether the aid that the Executive could propose would serve as a brake on another rescue of funds, he indicated: “We will see. Time will tell, but I think that the Government has to react, as it has done, because it is thinking of formulas “.
