Indecopi reminds parents that the only charges allowed throughout the academic year are tuition fees, tuition and the entrance fee.
The entrance fee is paid only once, that is, it only applies to new students and can be returned if the student leaves the school; Tuition is charged once at the beginning of the year and should not be greater than the amount of the monthly pension.; while the pension is collected monthly and after the end of the month of teaching. That is, you cannot charge before or during the month.
The pensions are collected monthly and the requirement for advance payment of pensions is prohibited. In the event that the student wishes to withdraw from the educational institution, the entrance fee is refundable proportionally to the time the student remains in the educational institution, as stated in the Law of Private Educational Centers, Law No. ° 26549 and its regulations.
Likewise, it is important to remember that any charge other than those indicated, such as, for example, fees for school anniversary celebrations, bingos, raffles, chocolates, among others, are prohibited.
As a result of permanent inspection, Indecopi imposed 934 sanctions in the last four years against private educational centers that violated Consumer Protection regulations. Among the most recurrent offenses sanctioned is the directing of the purchase of uniforms and/or school supplies, lack of attention to management requests and lack of attention to information requests.
Parents who need to file a claim or complaint about the service their children receive in private schools can request the Complaints Book, which must be implemented physically or virtually. The educational center has a period of 15 days, non-extendable, to respond to the claim or complaint presented. The Indecopi service channels are also available:
