“Private schools are not understanding that they must abide by regulations”

Hoy Paraguay

The Minister of Education, Nicolás Zarate, said that what happened to the boy who was the victim of an alleged case of sexual abuse in a private school in Lambaré is “a very strong blow”. He also indicated that there was indeed a bad procedure on the part of the educational institution.

“Private schools are not understanding that they must abide by the regulations just like any public school,” said the Minister of Education, Nicolás Zarate, in contact with 730 AM.

With regard to the case of the 6-year-old boy who was allegedly the victim of sexual abuse by higher-level students, the minister maintained that the MEC filed a lawsuit for the bad procedure of the educational institution

“We initiated a lawsuit, from the beginning the MEC provided support, it seemed like a joke, what happened is serious,” emphasized the head of the State portfolio.

Regarding what happened with the 6-year-old boy, he said that “it is a very strong blow for the whole of society and we make ourselves available to the parents. What is strange is that there is a protocol and they do not apply it, ”she stressed.

“Everything is really bad here, we are going to go to the last with this school. I want to ask parliamentarians to give more powers to the ministry, here we do not have the power to close schools, “continued the minister.

In this regard, he added that there was a “total omission” by minimizing the case and falsifying information about what happened.

“It is a very painful moment for society, it hurts us a lot when there are protocols that are not applied,” he added.
