After the Ombudsman’s Office detected a prisoner in inhuman conditions inside the La Joya Penitentiary Center, the director in charge of the Penitentiary System, Euclides Castillo, assured that they proceeded to manage medical care and the supply of medicines through a private clinic and the Pacora Health Center.
The prisoner was found on January 7, without the minimum conditions to carry out his physiological needs and personal hygiene, in addition to having two months with shackles on his hands.
Given this scenario, Castillo excused his administration, assuring that the prisoner was outside his cell to safeguard the physical integrity of the other detainees. He said that he has already been relocated to one of the pavilions in La Joya and that he is receiving medical attention.
The Penitentiary Siatema assured that they maintain a policy aimed at guaranteeing respect for human rights.
