Contracted space*. Dr. Andrés Lima, candidate for the Senate – EnFa – Frente Amplio. The Broad Front, with its presidential formula Yamandú Orsi and Carolina Cosse, has presented 48 concrete actions that will be implemented in the next government, focusing on the priorities and challenges facing our nation. These actions are organized into three fundamental axes: Economic Stability and Inclusive Growth, Social Care and Protection, and Improved Security.
Uruguay faces significant challenges that require an honest recognition of our reality. Today, more than ever, it is vital to act with determination to address the problems that affect our society and offer a clear horizon of hope. It is essential to join forces and provide more and better opportunities, prioritizing the increase in salaries and jobs, as well as the protection of children in vulnerable situations, an urgent need.
Our commitment is to transform a country that currently faces inequalities and lack of security, promising only what we can deliver and basing our change on honesty. Priorities for achieving economic stability and inclusive growth focus on promoting sustainability and well-being. Promoting innovation, technological development and efficiency in public management is crucial, since the quality of life depends on economic growth. To this end, the private sector will be summoned to the Board of Directors of Uruguay XXI and the procedures at the Single Investment Window will be streamlined, in addition to reviewing the tax schemes to attract multinational investments.
Sustainable development will promote equity, offering benefits in the electricity rate for MSMEs and access to electronic billing for microenterprises. A support fund for tourism SMEs will be created and a new industrial development policy will be designed focused on key sectors such as ICT and the bioeconomy. Urban mobility will also be improved, the purchasing power of workers will be increased and access to public purchases for social and solidarity economy ventures will be strengthened.
Regarding Social Care and Protection, we propose to reform the social protection system with a focus on childhood and adolescence, guaranteeing that no child or young person is left without opportunities. It is urgent to act in the face of the current lack of protection. Among the proposed measures, support of $2,500 will be offered to families with children in early education and coverage in kindergartens and full-time schools will be doubled. In addition, scholarships for high school students will be multiplied by five and student residences will be opened to facilitate access to the university. The amount of the Uruguay Social Card and the Parenting Bonus for vulnerable households will be increased by 50%, and the maternity subsidy will be extended to independent workers. The First Home Plan will also be created to facilitate access to mortgage credit and collective housing projects for older adults will be implemented. A stock of affordable rental housing will be established and procedures for housing cooperatives will be accelerated. In the field of health, the Mental Health Plan 2025-2030 will be implemented, improving access to medications and reducing waiting times for surgeries and consultations. These actions are essential to build a more equitable and supportive future.
Finally, the third axis addresses the improvement of security, essential to strengthen coexistence and confront organized crime. We propose to develop a Comprehensive System to Fight Organized Crime and Drug Trafficking, create a Unified Border Security Coordination Center and increase video surveillance with 500 cameras. In addition, patrolling by the High Operational Dedication Program (PADO) will be intensified in the neighborhoods and infrastructure will be improved through the More Neighborhood Plan. 2,000 new police officers will be incorporated and service in police stations with university students will be strengthened to improve the reception of complaints. We will also seek to improve the working conditions of police officers and provide security forces with mobile devices to deal with cases of Gender-Based Violence.
Finally, JUTEP will be strengthened to guarantee transparency and the fight against corruption, regulating anonymous donations and limiting direct appointments in the state. These actions are essential to ensure security as a human right.
Our commitment as Frente Amplio is clear: to build a Uruguay where every citizen has access to opportunities and where equity and social justice are fundamental pillars. Together, we can transform our reality and move towards a more just and supportive future.
