The Ministry of the Interior and Police issued resolution 007/22, which prohibits the consumption and sale of alcoholic beverages in all commercial establishments from Monday to Sunday from twelve in the morning until eight in the morning at various points in the greater Santo Domingo.

The resolution states that the ban is in effect from Monday, November 7, in the municipalities of Santo Domingo Este, Santo Domingo Oeste, Pedro Brand, Boca Chica, Los Alcarrizos, Pedro Brand, San Antonio de Guerra and the municipal districts belonging to each one of these. The resolution does not include the National District.

“This initiative is due to the fact that homicides in recent weeks have a high presence in the early morning hours of Greater Santo Domingo,” Interior and Police explained in a press release.

The figures shown by the General Directorate of Migration show that 2020-22 has been the period in which more Haitian nationals have been repatriated to their country since records exist.
