The collapse of part of a balcony in Salvador killed three people and injured eight on Saturday night (8). Father Carlos Augusto da Cruz Silva, 45 years old, is among the dead. He was an episcopal vicar for the Charity Service and worked in the Santos Cosme e Damião Parish, in the capital of Bahia.
Darcy Anunciação, aged 70, and Ana Maria dos Santos, aged 50, who were members of Father Carlos’ church also died.
The causes of the collapse will be investigated jointly by the Municipal Department of Development and Urbanism (Sedur), the Civil Defense of Salvador and the Civil Police, which will launch an investigation to investigate responsibilities. The agencies will investigate whether the construction was irregular.
The Archdiocese of Salvador spoke out in notes about what it called a “tragedy” in relation to the deaths of the priest and the other two victims. According to the archdiocese, Carlos Augusto was at a family home when the slab gave way. The religious entity claims that he showed special attention to the poor.
