The prices of the most sought after products in Easter week in the country had, on average, a 0.43% drop compared to the same period last year. At Easter of 2024, compared to the 2023 holiday, there was an increase of 20.2%. The data, released on Monday (14), were collected by the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (Fecomerciosp), based on information from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Of the 11 products analyzed, six were discharged, and five, fall. The decrease was verified the price of the potatoes (-40.5%), onion (-37.6%), tomato (-7.6%), rice (-4.1%) and fish (-0.2%). The elevations occurred in olive oil (12.6%), chicken egg (13.2%), olive (13.2%), chocolate and chocolate powder (15.1%), bar and bonbon chocolate (18.5%) and garlic (26.3%).
“The increase in chocolates happens, among other factors, because of the break in the harvest of the great Players Product in the international market, as is the case of Ghana in Africa. Therefore, the item fired worldwide, ”explains Fecomerciosp, in a statement.
Estimates of the entity for sales on the date are positive. The projection indicates that supermarkets should earn 5% more in April, in the state of São Paulo, compared to the same month of the previous year. “Enter this account not only Easter, but the conjuncture marked by the heated labor market, the growth of income and the availability of credit.”
