The Federal Highway Police (PRF) will start this Thursday (6) Operation Holy Week on all federal highways in the country. There will be four days of operation, which will take place until Easter Sunday (9).
PRF agents will act to curb traffic violations such as speeding, prohibited overtaking, cell phone use while driving, failure to use seat belts and child seats.
The PRF points out that, during periods of extended holidays, the flow of vehicles on the roads increases and, consequently, there is a greater risk of accidents. The body warns drivers to redouble their attention and respect traffic rules so that they can reach their destination safely.
In the state of São Paulo, police officers will reinforce inspections on more than a thousand kilometers of federal highways, on BRs 101 (Rio/Santos), 116 (Presidente Dutra and Régis Bittencourt), 153 (Transbrasiliana), 381 (Fernão Dias), 488 (surrounding the Basilica of Aparecida) and 459 (Lorena/Itajubá).
On the federal highways of São Paulo there will be traffic restrictions for cargo vehicles in the following stretches: from Km 0 to 52.1 of BR 101, in Ubatuba (SP); from Km 0 to 344.7 of BR 153, between Icém (SP) and Ourinhos (SP); from Km 0 to 32 of BR 459, between Piquete (SP) and Lorena (SP).
Restrictions will take place on Thursday (6), between 4 pm and 10 pm; on Friday (7), between 06h and 12h; and, on Sunday (9), between 4 pm and 10 pm.
Recommendations
The Federal Highway Police advises drivers to, before traveling, check the conditions of the car, especially in relation to safety items, such as the brake system, tires and lighting and signaling systems.
The PRF recommends that the trip should be planned so that the driver does not have to drive for more than four hours at a time. The driver must always be rested and in physical and psychological condition for driving.
The maximum passenger capacity allowed by the car manufacturer must be respected, as well as all occupants must wear a seat belt. Luggage needs to be carried in the trunk, as if it is transported in the passenger compartment, it could move and injure the occupants of the car in an eventual accident.
