According to the commission, as of 4:00 p.m. this Wednesday, most air quality monitoring stations register “good” or “acceptable” activity.
“At the Nezahualcóyotl and Santiago Acahualtepec stations, although poor air quality due to PM2.5 still persists, the trend is towards a reduction in concentrations,” the commission detailed.
He explained that this is because the widespread burning of fireworks and bonfires decreased and “above all because the weather conditions will favor the dispersion of pollutants in the coming hours.”
“In accordance with the provisions of the Programs to Prevent and Respond to Atmospheric Environmental Contingencies that apply in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico, the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis informs that the Preventive Phase due to PM2.5 particles is suspended,” he added.
