San Cristóbal.- The San Cristóbal Prosecutor’s Office obtained three months of preventive detention against a man accused of causing the death of a former member of the National Police to rob him of his service weapon, during a robbery carried out on June 1.
Judge José Carlos Arias Nina ordered the coercive measure against the accused Brando Leandro Rodríguez Aguasviva (Brandol) for his involvement in the death of former police officer Juan Vallejo Soriano due to a gunshot wound.
Esjoarmy Garabitos is being pursued for his connection to the case and is currently on the run.
The request for coercive measures indicates that the incident occurred around 6:20 in the morning of the aforementioned day, when the victim was riding a motorcycle in the Canasta 2 sector of San Cristóbal.
The statement states that the defendants tried to rob the victim of his motorcycle at gunpoint, shooting him with the firearm they were carrying, but were unsuccessful. They then proceeded to rob him of his service weapon, a Tauro brand, caliber 38, and then fled. The former police officer died on June 19 as a result of the gunshot, while he was admitted to a health center.
The request for coercive measures was supported by different evidence linking those involved with the robbery perpetrated against Vallejo Soriano.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of San Cristóbal has granted the case the legal qualification of violation of articles 265, 266, 295, 304-2 379, 382, 383 and 385 of the Dominican Penal Code, and articles 66 and 67 of Law 631-16 for the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials.
Rodríguez Aguasviva will serve his sentence in the Baní public prison in the Peravia province.
