SANTO DOMINGO.- The judge of the Judicial Office of Permanent Care Services of the Judicial District of Peravia imposed a month of preventive detention on Yohana Elizabeth de la Cruz Matosformer civil status officer of the First District of Baní, already Dionicio Coloméaccused of being part of a network dedicated to the fraudulent reconstruction of Civil Status records.
According to the investigation by the Public Ministry, the defendants carried out reconstructions of minutes supported by fake documentsdespite the fact that the alleged inscriptions did not exist in the official books. The authorities point out that these maneuvers sought to allow third parties to claim property rights due to non-existent affiliations on foreign lands.
At the hearing, the Public Ministry was represented by prosecutors Luis Armando Pimentel and Esther Gonzalezthe latter attached to the Central Electoral Board (JCE). The JCE also participated as a plaintiff through a team of lawyers.

The defendants face charges of association of criminals, falsification of public documents, alteration of minutes and prevaricationcrimes contemplated in articles 147, 148, 166, 265 and 266 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as article 208 of Organic Law 4-23 of Civil Status Acts.
The judge Rosaura Garabitos ordered that De la Cruz Matos comply with the measure in the Baní Mujeres penitentiary centerwhile Colomé must comply with it in the Bani Men’s prison.
