SANTO DOMINGO.– The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santiago imposed preventive detention as a measure of coercion against a National Police agentHe accused of the murder of a young man that occurred in the neighborhood La Ceibita, in the Pekin sector.
Judge Yiberty Polanco Herrán ordered the measure against the accused Jersin Encarnación Vicente, accused of being responsible for the death of Miguel Antonio Miranda Flete, 23 years old, who died after receiving a shot in the head.
Provisionally, the agent faces charges for violation of articles 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code, which classify the crime of homicide. The court ordered that the preventive detention, subject to review every three months, be served in the prison of the Manoguayabo Special Operations Center, in Santo Domingo Oeste.
During the hearing, the trial prosecutor Heidys de León, representing the Public Ministry, maintained that the accused fired his service weapon at the victim, causing a fatal wound to the head.

According to the investigation, the events occurred on December 25, 2025, around 7:30 in the morning, when the police officer went to the scene along with other uniformed officers in response to a complaint from the community about a party that generated noise pollution.
The prosecuting body, headed by the director of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Prosecutor’s Office, court prosecutor Gerardo Ponce, established that when the agents arrived the situation became violent, so they proceeded to launch tear gas bombs to try to control the atmosphere.
In that context, Encarnación Vicente fired his service weapon, a Glock 17, 9 millimeter caliber pistol, hitting Miranda Flete in the head. The victim remained in critical condition and died four days later, on December 29, 2025, while receiving medical attention.
The Santiago Prosecutor’s Office deposited various pieces of evidence before the court, including coherent testimonies from witnesses, documentary, expert and material evidence, as well as audiovisual evidence in which the moment in which the accused shoots the victim is observed. These tests were decisive for the imposition of the coercive measure.
