Prevention warning for rains and storms is maintained at the national level until May 6

The National System of National Protection (Sinaproc) reported this Thursday that it maintains a warning of prevention due to instability in the climate until this Friday, May 6.

Among the areas under warning are: Comarca Guna Yala, Colón, Comarca Ngábe Buglé, Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, Chiriquí, Herrera, Los Santos, Coclé, Panamá Oeste, Panamá, Darién, and Emberá Wounaan.

These rains are influenced by a low pressure system and the Intertropical Convergence zone, according to the Hydrometeorology Directorate of the Electricity Transmission Company, SA, (Etesa).

As detailed in the Etesa report, it forecasts accumulated rainfall over the country with amounts that could reach 25 mm or liters of water per square meter. Rainfall amounts between 50 mm and 80 mm or liters of water per square meter are expected in the Western, Central and Eastern Pacific region.

Given this situation, the entity warns to be careful in the face of sudden flooding of rivers and streams.

Sinaproc recommends that you try to be aware of the updates of prevention notices, and citizens are advised not to risk their lives by trying to cross streams and avoid approaching electric poles or cables. If it is raining, avoid driving at high speeds.
