Prevention notice issued for maximum tides in the Pacific until March 25

Judith Pena | March 20, 2023

The National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) issued a prevention, monitoring and surveillance notice in the Panamanian Pacific sector due to the fact that maximum tides will be registered in the next few days, for five days.

The maximum tides that will reach about 17.4 feet high (5.30) meters, will be recorded from 3:20 am on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, until 6:40 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

The National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) warns that if the maximum tide coincides with the rains, the levels of rivers and streams could increase, causing flooding in vulnerable areas.

Preventive measures:

• Avoid carrying out activities on the Pacific coast.

• Artisanal fishermen are advised to use navigation equipment and personal flotation devices (life jackets).

For reports call the emergency lines: 520-4429/911 / 6998-4809.
