Officials from the 21 offices of the General Directorate of International Police, attached to the Vice Ministry of the Integrated Criminal Investigation System (Visiip), carried out a special approach to prevent grooming with passers-by at the country’s airports and border crossings.
The central session, held at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, La Guaira state, was supervised by the Vice Minister of the Integrated Criminal Investigation System, C/G Humberto Ramírez, who highlighted the importance of these promotional mechanisms, since they meet the objectives established in Vertex One of the Great Mission Quadrants of Peace.
The General Commissioner reported that, following instructions from the Vice President of the Policy, Citizen Security and Peace Sector, Capt. Diosdado Cabello Rondón, this operation has been deployed to ensure that the Venezuelan family has the necessary information to prevent this type of crime.
“We must protect our children and adolescents so that they do not become victims of this situation, which is why we recommend having assertive communication with your children, setting limits and supervising the use of social networks, online games and websites,” said Ramírez.
The information session took place at the country’s main airports and border crossings, where the International Police Directorate is present. Finally, the Vice Minister invited the general population to trust the public security agencies when these types of situations arise in order to file the corresponding complaint.
Grooming is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older adolescent gains the trust of a child by impersonating another person through digital platforms and, through isolation and threats, seeks to sexually assault the victim.
