Press conference on Hurricane Melissa in the Dominican Republic

The dominican authorities offer this Monday, October 27, at 11:00 in the morninga live press conference to report on the indirect effects of Hurricane Melissawhich continues to impact the Caribbean region.

The event is broadcast on the official emergency channels and digital platforms of the Emergency Operations Center (COE).

According to the most recent weather report, Melissa has strengthened to reach maximum sustained winds of 260 kilometers per hourbecoming the fourth intense hurricane of the current hurricane season.

The phenomenon was located near the latitude 16.4 north and longitude 78.0 westthat is, about 220 kilometers southwest of Kingston, Jamaicaand 515 kilometers southwest of Guantánamo, Cubawith a slow movement towards the west to about 6 km/h.

The path models indicate that Melissa could gradually turn northward later this Monday and northeastward on Tuesday.
