The derailment of the Interoceanic Train caused various reactions from political parties, governors, senators and deputies, and condolences from the presidents of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

In addition to expressing their solidarity and regret for the deaths and injuries on their social networks, some of the public figures demanded a thorough investigation and suspension of their operation until they know the causes of the accident; others criticized the infrastructure and lack of planning, and some more considered evaluating the permanence of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) in the railway management of this train.

Salomón Jara, governor of Oaxaca, “deeply” regretted the accident and offered all his support to the affected families. PAN member Kenia López Rabadán, president of the Chamber of Deputies, sent her deepest condolences to the families of the victims and called for a serious investigation.

Díaz-Canel conveyed his administration’s condolences “to the people and government of Mexico” and expressed solidarity, like Maduro, in addition to “raising his prayers” for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Semar reaffirmed its commitment to care with “transparency”, since it is the entity responsible for the Interoceanic Corridor. The Morena bench in the Chamber of Deputies stated that, once the investigations into the derailment of the Interoceanic Train have been concluded, the causes must be addressed.

Meanwhile, the PAN demanded to definitively stop the convoy operations and establish a legislative commission to investigate the work, which, it indicated, involves an expense of more than 60 billion pesos.

The economic vice coordinator of the bench of the blue and white In San Lázaro, Héctor Saúl Téllez, proposed that the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) carry out a special investigation and that operations be resumed until an independent technical audit is applied, with international participation, to certify the safety of tracks and locomotives.

He said that in the audits carried out on the train, the ASF “has reported irregularities for approximately 57.75 million pesos, with excess payments of 28.85 million in the rehabilitation of line Z, where the accident occurred.

The PRI demanded a thorough investigation and punishment of those responsible for the derailment. On his social networks, the national leader, Alejandro Moreno, maintained that in this project “there is no maintenance, there is no control, there is no seriousness.”

Meanwhile, his counterpart from Acción Nacional, Jorge Romero, expressed his condolences and recognized the efforts of the emergency teams who treated the injured.

After regretting the loss of life, as well as the impact on the injured, the president of the Senate, Laura Itzel Castillo (Morena), trusted that an exhaustive investigation will be carried out to clarify what happened.
