Santo Domingo – Homero Figueroa, director of Information, Analysis and Strategic Programming of the Presidency, said that the Punta Catalina trust had been in Congress for five months and was approved by the entire opposition and that they then politically exploited this issue, of which there is great ignorance.
He also argued that the opposition “demonizes” the trust for political reasons and that it is incredible that opposition deputies have admitted not having read the contract.
“Many people do not know what a trust is and how it works and that is what we have tried to explain,” he said.
He said that it is an experience to take into account, since he recognized that the subject should have been debated.

In an exclusive interview for the program Truths on the Air, by journalist Adolfo Salomón, Figueroa said that it is stupid to compare a privatization with a public trust.
“It doesn’t make sense,” he emphasized, while recalling that the president said it clearly in his speech.
“To sell any public asset, the approval of Congress is needed, there can be no talk of privatization in the absence of a private company,” he pointed out.
