Presidential Commission refines details for commemoration of the Naval Battle of the Lake

From the headquarters of the Vice Presidency of the Republic, the Bicentennial Presidential Commission refine the last details to commemorate this July 24 the 200 years of the Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibohistorical event that granted the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the definitive independence of the Spanish yoke.

The activity, led by the Vice President of the Republic, delcy rodriguezhas as its fundamental objective, to vindicate the patriotic identity of the nation and the rescue of the Venezuelan historical memory.

The sector vice-presidents participate, among them: Political Sovereignty, Security and Peace, Vladimir Padrino Lopez; Citizen security, remigio ceballos and Social and Territorial Socialism, Mervin Maldonado; are also present, the historian Pedro Calzadilla and the Minister of University Education, Sandra Oblitasamong other national government authorities.

The Naval Battle of the Lake was crucial to achieve the liberation of Maracaibo, thanks to the genius of El Libertador Simón Bolívar, and General in Chief Rafael Urdaneta, who undertook the task of giving independence to the West, by defeating the forces royalists under the command of Francisco Tomás Morales.

It is worth remembering that this commission contemplates a work agenda for the next six years, which began with the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo, and which assumes a commemorative cycle that exalts the path of Venezuelan independence.
