Senator Martín Arévalo will go to the State Attorney General’s Office to file a complaint against Efraín Alegre for an embezzlement of 37 million dollars during his tenure at the MOPC, according to the investigation by the Executive Audit Office of then-President Fernando Lugo.
A report prepared by the auditors of then President Fernando Lugo reveals that, The 37 million dollars of embezzlement in the Alegre era in the MOPC, are distributed among cases of planning, stopped works, fuel theft, machinery, rigged tenders, among other things.
In this regard, legislator Martín Arévalo opined that, Alegre should clarify the accusation that emerges from the report of the Executive Power, corresponding to the Lugo administration, and not to a journalistic investigation.
The legislator announced that next week it will bring the documentation of this audit to the State Attorney General’s Officesince the fact was never investigated by the Public Ministry, despite being an exorbitant sum like 37 million dollars.

“If I denounced the Minister of Health, that of Petropar, that of the highway and the director of Customs, Why am I not going to denounce this criminal who kept 37 million dollars? It is important that citizens know what he did in the public service “Latorre said.
Arévalo recalled that Efraín’s history of mismanagement is not only in the MOPC, but also in his own party, the PLRA, whose financial situation is catastrophic.
“This shows that Efraín is incapable and corrupt and that he should not have the accompaniment of a good Paraguayan, he is asked to clarify and he only makes excuses, but he fills his mouth to accuse the colorados or whoever crosses his path way, thinking that it is a white dove”, he opined.
While Efraín Alegre maintains that there was never an audit of his management at the MOPC, the director of internal control, whose signature appears on the report, confirmed that the investigation was ordered by the incoming minister, Cecilio Pérez.
