The President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, visited this Friday morning (1st) the construction works of the Feira de Santana ring road, in the interior of Bahia. He also signed the work order for the Água Doce Program for the delivery of artesian wells, cisterns and water desalination for the region. The Minister of Citizenship, Ronaldo Vieira Bento, and the Minister of Tourism, Carlos Brito, participated in the event.
With more than 40 kilometers in length, the road junction will be the largest in the entire Northeast region. The second largest urban center in Bahia, Feira de Santana is a hub of economic activity focused on commerce and industry. “Today, we took a very important step towards a true transformation of Feira de Santana’s outline”, said Bruno Eustáquio, executive secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
The estimated investment for the road work will be R$ 491 million and will benefit a population of one million people. Adapting the path of vehicles, especially trucks, aims to increase traffic flow and reduce accidents.
For the water security project, desalination systems make sustainable use of abandoned wells with brackish and saline water. The measure serves rural and semi-arid communities. The project is part of the Water Task Force, which has benefited families since March this year.
29 desalination systems will be created within a period of up to 2 years. With an investment of almost R$ 10 million, it is estimated that 1.5 million people will be served.
Construction is planned in the municipalities of Abaré, Aracatu, Canudos, Capela do Alto Alegre, Caraíbas, Casa Nova, Chorrochó, Coronel João Sá, Malhadas de Pedras, Mirante, Monte Santo, Pedro Alexandre, Pindaí, Presidente Jânio Quadros, Quijingue, Riachão do Jacuípe, Riacho de Santana, Urandi and Uauá.
