Exactly two months after his departure from La Moneda, the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, is already making the final balance sheets of his administration, where he highlights the control he had with the social crisis and the handling of the pandemic.
In an interview conducted by Mega news, the Head of State was satisfied with the measures adopted to combat the Coronavirus, highlighted four main successes and announced that “we have vaccines for all of 2022. we must have peace of mind.”
“We did four important things. To be serious and double the capacity of beds, we bought the vaccines in May and we anticipated. We did the booster vaccination in August and now we are with a fourth dose. We have always been anticipating,” he said.
“Chile faced one of the worst crises in its history. I think it is not a failure. On the contrary. We have worked tirelessly. We have not stopped,” added the President.
On the other hand, after being consulted about the reasons that led Gabriel Boric to win the elections, President Piñera declared that the President-elect knew how to interpret the new demands.
“He represented very well this new demand for the participation of young people, of women. He interpreted it and knew how to win fairly,” he said.
“Gabriel Boric knew how to interpret that demand for changes,” he said. In addition, he referred to the expectations that the population has with his arrival and how it could affect him. “But one thing, as I said to him, is to be a candidate, where one promises and commits, and another thing is to be President where you have to comply, “he concluded.
