President Louis Abinader assured that three extensions of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) with the same budget, at current prices, than what they spent only on the construction of the parking lot of the UASD in Santo Domingo in 2011.
“It is understandable that the opposition does not believe that we are building 3 extensions of the UASD with the same budget, at current prices, than what they spent only on the construction of the UASD parking lot in Santo Domingo in 2011. Or that the extension of the Metro to Los Alcarrizos costs 25% less per linear kilometer than it did 15 years ago”, said the president during his speech at the Cibao Theater, in Santiago province.
He said that the Government has awarded 20% more national and international scholarships with the same budget that had reached more than 20,000 scholarships these two years.
“In addition, this year we managed to get the United States Medical Education Council to homologate the titles of our 11 medical schools. This represents an important recognition for our doctors and will lead to young people from anywhere in the world being able to come to study medicine in the Dominican Republic with federal loans,” said the president.
Abinader affirmed that in only 2 years, the Government carries out the greatest expansion ever seen of the UASD with construction projects in Hato Mayor, La Vega, Azua, Cotuí, Santiago Rodríguez, Neyba and Bani.
Building
In July of this year, the president began construction work on the new UASD campus in Neyba.
According to the Government, the construction of this center will allow students from the Bahoruco and Independencia provinces to pursue their studies here, without the need to travel to other more distant places.
This work will have an investment of 783 million pesos, the new UASD center in Neiba, will boost the economy of the province of Bahoruco, providing the community with some 750 direct jobs and more than 1,500 indirect jobs.
