SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Humanist Party (PhD) declared today that more than six months ago he had warned the Central Electoral Board (JCE) that acted against the premature proselytism of some political organizations, in clear violation of Law 33-18 on Political Parties, Groups and Movements.
The president of the PHD, Ramón Emilio Goris, said that they even sent a communication to the plenary of the JCE informing them of the situation and the danger that this represented for electoral integrity.
“We asked the JCE to stop this electoral campaign at the wrong time due to the discomfort it could generate in the party system and in the 2024 electoral process itself,” he said.
The also deputy before the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) stated that the PHD welcomes the initiative of the Plenary of the Central Electoral Board to convene the presidents and general secretaries of the parties, groups and recognized political movements to discuss the issue in a meeting convened to next Thursday at 10:00 in the morning at the headquarters of that institution.
He recognized that the JCE as the highest authority in the administration of elections “has always shown the highest administrative responsibility in each electoral process”, for which he fully trusts that the necessary measures will be taken to curb the proselytism exhibited by some political organizations.
“The important thing is that in this meeting convened by the Plenary of the JCE, all parties faithfully commit to respect Law 33-18 on Political Parties, Groups and Movements and article 280, numeral 4 and 16 of Law number 15 -19 Organic Electoral Regime”, he stated.
