During the broadcast of his council of ministers, President Gustavo Petro referred to the diplomatic crisis between Colombia and the United States. This time, his statements included a call to attention to the Colombian ambassador in Washington, Daniel García-Peña.
The Colombian president mentioned the figures associated with illicit crops, claiming that demand for cocaine in the US has stopped at its peak years ago. Likewise, he indicated that the satellite map where these data are shown is held by the United Nations and that this information has not been made known to Trump.
In this context, the head of state called on García-Peña and Foreign Minister Yolanda Villavicencio for not addressing this issue directly with the US president and make you aware of the situation in the fight against drugs.
“It is key to show the falsity of your assessment of the anti-drug policy that Trump does not reach you. Ambassador, when speaking with Berni Moreno and his friends, you have not found the way to speak with Trump. Neither my own ambassador nor my foreign minister, who no longer has a visa, manage to show you these data, but only hears Senator Moreno’s slander,” Indian.

President Petro also gave the ambassador the task of finding ways to show this panorama to his American counterpart. “If the ambassador is not able to create a path that will arrive and I put another vision to Trump, we are going to have bigger problems, a task that I leave to the ambassador, still”he declared.
In another section of his speech he addressed the official again, pointing out that: “Take your reasons where you have to, or we end up in a massacre of the Latin American people.”
In that sense, Petro accused Republican Senator Bernie Moreno of instigating the US head of state against the Colombian government and generate pressure to affect bilateral relations. “It is desperate for Trump to clash with this government”he indicated.
The Colombian president also lowered his tone towards Donald Trump and did not announce any of the measures that he was supposed to issue in response to possible sanctions.
