President Petro referred to the unemployment figures in Colombia

The collapse of the peso is due to the fact that they are "taking out dollars", says Petro

Minutes after the Dane reported on a new reduction in the unemployment rate in Colombia, which in September 2022 stood at 10.7%, while in the same period last year it was 12.0%, President Gustavo Petro sent a message on his social networks in which he referred to the behavior of the labor market.

(Unemployment rate in Colombia was 10.7% in September).

Said “This is the fundamental and most important variable of the economy” and added that “The government’s countercyclical policy, in the face of world economic stagnation, should be to advocate for jobs to grow.”

According to the Dane, between July and September 2022, the unemployment rate was 10.8%, which represented a decrease of 1.8 percentage points compared to the July-September 2021 quarter, when it was 12.6%.
