The president pointed out that the supervision and control of public services in Colombia was not being fully complied with. due to the impossibility of appointing commissioners to the Creg. “The quorum has not been completed because I cannot find any independent people who have been directors. Academics are selected, but they are dismissed.”he indicated.
In this regard, the head of State mentioned that the way in which the entity is set up makes it difficult to find independent experts from the private sector. Hence the need for it to be modified so that it responds to users and not “only to private producers.”
President Petro also expressed his desire to change the way in which energy prices are calculated in the country and proposed a new method. “I want to change the Creg tariff formula. I propose that we reach a consensus and I am open to discussion,” he added.

In this regard, he proposed establishing two groups of prices: one for clean energy and another for production using fossil fuels. He said his goal is to change the way energy rates are set, to avoid the differential that currently exists when all energy for sale is charged at the price of the most expensive production.
“I propose two groups of prices: clean energy, which is cheap and abundant, and fossil fuels. We can export it to the United States, we have large amounts of sun.”he said.
