President Gustavo Petro installed on Thursday, April 24, the committees for the ‘yes’ to the popular consultation, an initiative promoted by the national government for Take forward with the labor reform that sank in the Congress of the Republic.

During his speech, the president said that by implementing this mechanism for citizen participation, he does not seek re -election. “I did not come to talk about reelection. None of the popular consultation questions talk about it,” projection.
The Head of State also indicated that the questions are oriented in guarantee better working conditions For Colombian workers.
“What we are asking the people is so simple, that it is sorry to ask. How do we have to ask us those questions? They are not accepted in the laws, because greed is so great and Colombia is so bloodthirsty that they want to turn each worker into an unworthy slave,”he said.
In the same way, he emphasized that the call with this consultation is that the people have decision -making power. “That is what we are proposing: that you vote for your rights”he added.

In his speech, he reiterated his message that on May 1 Citizens go to the streets to march to express their support for this proposal.
“From here I tell everyone to vote for the popular consultation (…) If we open democracy there will be peace in Colombia and there will be a huge and beautiful country and can solve until its worst problem. And the Senate today has the key and (…) I request them not to the back to their people, reconcile with its people because the reason for being of a representative in the Congress of Colombia is to obey the people, not the mafia,”Petro said.
That is the date that the Government has contemplated to present the text of the popular consultation before the Congress of the Republic to initiate its discussion. The text that will be based is composed of 12 Questions related to topics such as working hours, night surcharges, outsourcing, among others.
The project has not been exempt from criticism from different fronts. Most highlight that the composition of the questions I would not aim to solve the unemployment problem facing the country.
