The President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Minister Rosa Weber, visited this Monday (20) the region of Alto Solimões and Vale do Javari, in Amazonas. In Tabatinga (AM), the minister went to a prison unit and participated in the launching of posters with information about the custody hearing in the Tikuna, Marubo, Matis and Kanamari languages
At the end of the day, the president of the STF spoke with indigenous leaders and participated in the inauguration of a social space in the city to serve prisoners and their families.
For the minister, the action demonstrates the protagonism of indigenous peoples. “This joint action by the National Council of Justice reflects the path and vocation of the Judiciary to guarantee constitutional rights, highlighting access to information, justice, cultural and linguistic recognition of indigenous peoples”, she said.
During her visit to the Amazon, Rosa Weber will also meet with representatives of the indigenous people who follow the case of the murder of indigenist Bruno Pereira and journalist Dom Phillips. The hearings that will decide whether those accused of the crime will go to a popular jury began today in the city’s district.
