Santo Domingo.- The president of the Senate, Eduardo Estrella, called this Tuesday the senators and deputies that make up the bicameral commission that studies the Bill of Domain Extinction to agree, to approve the piece of legislation as soon as possible.
“Our call is for us to work for the country with political maturity, to conclude this long process, putting aside private interests to prioritize the collective interest, in order to obtain a viable, practical, agile and forceful law,” said Estrella.
The representative of the Santiago province offered these statements during the discussion “Analysis of the Draft Law of Domain Extinction”, organized by the National Congress at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).

During the activity, Estrella said that the facts have shown that, every day, it is necessary for the nation to have instruments that have claws, capable of punishing bad practices and eradicating any trace of impunity.
“I want to reiterate our firm commitment to the approval of the Domain Forfeiture Law. My vote will be in favor of this piece of legislation that Dominican society expects and demands so much, as a clear and definitive message that whoever commits this type of crime in the country will not be able to circumvent the persecution of an independent justice system in the Dominican Republic. », he added.
The discussion, which aimed to reinforce knowledge of the legislative initiative with the participation of prominent professionals, was attended by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; Pedro Catrain, president of the Bicameral Commission that knows the project, senators, deputies, jurists and professors.
The Law Project on Domain Forfeiture Trials, has the objective of establishing the legal framework for the regulation of domain forfeiture of illicit assets, defining the consequences and powers of the authorities responsible for its application, recognizing the rights and guarantees of the interveners, lay down the fundamental principles for the operation of the administration system of forfeited assets; as well as the procedure required for its judicial declaration in favor of the Dominican State.
