During this week, several patients from the National Oncology Institute (ION) showed their dissatisfaction with the agglomeration of people who were waiting for medical attention and requested the administration that appointments be from very early hours and avoid possible infections of the Covid-19.
The president of the National Association of Chemotherapy Patients (Asonapaq), Alicia Luaces, explained that what is happening is that of the 50 thousand cancer survivors who are treated in the hospital, 21,315 are active and around 1,656 patients are treated daily. , which creates a collapse.
He said some argue that the ION has collapsed and patients are terrified that they are interrupting their treatment and opportunity to live longer.
He assured that all the treatments have continued as usual, and if there is something delayed it is because some supplies have not arrived in the country due to the pandemic.
