This Monday, the president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/Capital Dtto.), met with the head of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fattouh, who is on an official visit to the country.
In the meeting, which took place in the presidential office of the Federal Legislative Palace, Rodríguez expressed Venezuela’s deep support for the cause of the Palestinian people, “attacked in their own land by the criminal action of Zionism. Long live free Palestine! ”, Wrote the highest authority of the AN on her Twitter account.
The senior Palestinian official is a political leader with extensive experience in the struggle for Palestinian liberation and has held positions in the international arena and in relations with various actors in the world; as well as in the Palestinian head of government and in the Executive and Legislative branches, he refers to the AVN press release.
It is worth remembering that on April 27, 2009, the government of Hugo Chávez Frías recognized the State of Palestine and established diplomatic relations, which made Venezuela the first country in the American continent to recognize the sovereignty of this Arab people.
Since then, the Venezuelan government, first under Chávez and currently under President Nicolás Maduro, has firmly supported the rights of the Palestinian people in the face of the illegal occupation and incessant attacks by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Meanwhile, Venezuela and Palestine have signed cooperation agreements on education, economy, trade, energy, agriculture, culture, tourism, communication, sports, defense, security and health.
In the meeting, between Rodríguez and Fattouh, the first vice president and the second president of the AN, deputy Pedro Infante (PSUV/Dtto. Capital) and deputy America Pérez (PSUV/Nva. Esparta), as well as the undersecretariat María Alejandra Hernández, participated.
For his part, the president of the Palestinian Parliament was accompanied by the ambassador of that nation in Venezuela, Fadi Alzaben; and the member of the General Committee of the Organization
for the Palestinian Liberation (OLP) and author of the book “Chavez Between the Lines”, Abdalnasser HY Alaraj.
Also part of this delegation were Ahmed RA Fattouh, director and spokesman for the Palestinian National Council; and Maha Abusalim, Head of Affairs
Consulars of the Embassy of Palestine in Venezuela.
