Santiago. He turncoat post-election, according to current law it is not prohibited, affirmed today the president of the Central Electoral Board, Román Jáquez Liranzo, when questioned about the complaint by the political opposition that government officials are using public funds to supposedly buy mayors, directors of districts and other municipal authorities.
Jáquez Liranzo was precise in pointing out that this issue is a decision that must be valued by the political power
“Let’s leave that to a decision of the political power that can reform the Constitution,” he said.

The head of the JCE explained that post-electoral turncoat in the country was not and is not prohibited and that the Central Electoral Board did not raise it on this “issue” in the reform proposal, because it impacts, according to the criteria of the plenary session of the electoral body, constitutional aspects.
The official spoke after leading the launch in this city of the campaign called ‘Join the Electoral Colleges’ with the participation of representatives of the business sector and social organizations grouped in Compromiso Santiago, as well as delegations from different municipal boards.
Jáquez Lorenzo was accompanied by the members of the plenary session of the Central Electoral Board, Samir Chami Isa, Dolores Fernández, Rafael Armando Vallejo and Patricia Lorenzo.
The president of the Santiago Strategic Development Council (CDES), Ricardo Fondeur, delivered the welcoming remarks and appreciated the initiative on behalf of Compromiso Santiago.
