The President of the Congress of the Republic, María del Carmen Alva did receive VIP tickets to access the boxes in the Peru vs. Paraguay match on March 29; This was confirmed by the president of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), Rubén Trujillo, who asserted that these tickets were delivered with the aim of being distributed to the other parliamentarians
“I sent tickets to the presidency of Congress (by María del Carmen Alva) because it seemed like the right thing to do so as not to be sending tickets to one or another congressman. I also sent entries to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers because it seemed appropriate that (the prime minister, Hannibal Torres) tell who it seemed right to invite”, he declared during an interview in Successful this Monday.
In that sense, Trujillo said that These entries were also sent to the Minister of Education, Rosendo Serna, since the IPD is an institution attached to the Ministry of Education (Minedu). “What is under discussion is that these people, upon receiving the courtesy tickets that we deliver, they should have given people in their sector”, he added.

In addition, Rubén Trujillo stressed that it was he who made the decision to deliver the tickets to the authorities of Congress and of Executive power despite the discredit of both institutions by the population. In that sense, he stated that access to the boxes was given due to a matter of “formalisms”.
“Yes, that was my decision. You may not like it, but there are authorities in the country and since these tickets are courtesy, it seemed right to me to send them to these authorities. This is going to generate debate, whether it is ethical or not, but, just as I complied with these authorities, I also complied with citizen sectors of people in great need,” said the official.
At another point, he mentioned that the IPD does not have tickets, since they do not organize the event and that they only offered courtesy tickets that were also, as he pointed out, distributed to the children of Inabif, to a delegation from Conadis, to the frontline of the pandemic, among other vulnerable groups.

On the other hand, he assured that the Peruvian Football Federation did not lose money by giving courtesy tickets because they “sold all the tickets that the capacity allowed them to sell”.
“The tickets for the boxes cannot be sold because they are empty boxes that cannot be transferred by the IPD to any private person who wants to buy them (…) The boxes already have owners; those that have not been tendered are used to put the courtesy tickets. There were 280 courtesy tickets. We force ourselves to be accountable,” he added.
